Ecuador Climbing Season 2025: An Update from the Andes
As we move through the heart of the 2025 climbing season, Ecuador Eco Adventure is proud to report another year of remarkable mountain experiences on Cotopaxi and Chimborazo. Our expeditions have seen a variety of weather patterns—ranging from clear skies and perfect summit mornings to heavy winds and snowfall. This is the reality of high-altitude climbing in Ecuador: the Andes are unpredictable, and the mountains always remind us who is in charge.

Yet despite the shifting conditions, our teams have continued to press on with determination and high spirits. Our ASEGUIM-certified mountain guides have demonstrated extraordinary professionalism and adaptability, ensuring safety, preparation, and motivation for all our climbers, no matter what the weather has brought. Their ability to make sound decisions, encourage the group, and keep the expedition moving forward is one of the cornerstones of our continued success.
This season, Chimborazo has offered the most consistent summit opportunities. With several successful ascents from both the refuge and our upgraded high camp at 5,300 meters, climbers have had the privilege of reaching the highest point in Ecuador—also known as the closest point to the sun on Earth, due to the equatorial bulge. While Cotopaxi has been slightly more temperamental, we have still completed a number of successful climbs, taking advantage of strategic summit windows and the experience of our guides.

It is important to remind all future climbers that no one can predict or control the weather in the Ecuadorian Andes. Forecasts are helpful but rarely definitive. The most important mindset to bring on an expedition is flexibility. Mountain climbing is not only about standing on a summit; it is about the process, the preparation, the relationships built on the trail, and the personal strength discovered along the way.
We encourage all our guests to enjoy the journey. Take in the views, learn from the guides, appreciate the cultural richness of the highlands, and embrace the challenge—whatever the outcome. Some of the best memories are made not at the top, but during the effort to get there.
Our climbing season runs through December 2025, and we still have space available for both private and small group expeditions. Whether you are planning your first high-altitude climb or returning for another summit attempt, Ecuador’s volcanoes are waiting.
We invite you to join us on this adventure. Climb with purpose, climb with joy, and let the Andes teach you something unforgettable.
