Entry Restrictions and Travel Guidelines for Ecuador

Updated 2025 Entry Restrictions and Travel Guidelines for Ecuador:

Ecuador continues to welcome travelers from around the world with open arms. Despite global uncertainties, our country remains a safe and accessible destination for adventurers, nature lovers, and cultural explorers alike. At Ecuador Eco Adventure, we’ve been operating our treks, climbs, and eco-tours throughout the country without any issues — from the Andes to the Amazon and the Galápagos Islands.

Here’s everything travelers need to know about entry requirements and restrictions for visiting Ecuador in 2025.

🌎 Visa Requirements for Ecuador in 2025

Most travelers do not need a visa to enter Ecuador for stays up to 90 days. However, a few countries do require a tourist visa prior to arrival. As of the latest update, citizens from the following countries must apply for a visa through an Ecuadorian consulate:

  • Afghanistan
  • Bangladesh
  • Cameroon
  • Cuba
  • Democratic Republic of the Congo
  • Eritrea
  • Ethiopia
  • Gambia
  • Ghana
  • Haiti
  • India
  • Kenya
  • Nepal
  • Nigeria
  • North Korea
  • Pakistan
  • Senegal
  • Somalia
  • Sri Lanka
  • Syria
  • Venezuela
  • Yemen

Always check with the Ecuadorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or your nearest Ecuadorian consulate for the most up-to-date information.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: A U.S. Green Card does not exempt travelers from visa requirements. Being a U.S. permanent resident is not considered valid documentation for entry into Ecuador. Visa requirements are based on nationality, not residency status.

💉 Health Requirements

Travelers arriving from Colombia, Brazil, or Peru — or who have recently visited any country with a risk of yellow fever transmission — are required to show proof of yellow fever vaccination upon entry into Ecuador. This is particularly important if you are traveling to the Amazon or other jungle regions, where the vaccine is strongly recommended for your safety.

💵 Bringing Cash into Ecuador

If you are bringing more than $10,000 USD in cash, you must declare this amount through Ecuadorian customs. To comply with local regulations, you will also need to:

  • Fill out an online customs declaration form before your flight.
  • Report your cash upon arrival at the customs desk.

Failure to declare large sums of money can result in delays, fines, or confiscation. Plan ahead and use official channels if you’re carrying significant cash.

✅ Final Notes for 2025 Travelers

  • Ecuador remains a safe and welcoming country for visitors.
  • No COVID-19-related entry requirements are currently in effect.
  • Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date.
  • If you’re joining an adventure tour with Ecuador Eco Adventure, we’ll guide you through what you need to know — from vaccination advice to entry paperwork.
