Chimborazo High Camp

from $485.00

Climb Chimborazo from High Camp

This option enhances the chances of reaching the summit of Ecuador“s highest peak, by cutting the effort in almost half and starting at 5400 m, Vs 4800m which is the altitude of Carrel Refuge is located, from where most people start the climb.

That means that our clients will have a 600 m head start, and the attack to the summit is only 900 m and can take Climb Chimborazo5-6 hours, this is huge leverage over the other climbers.

Our Chimborazo High Camp gives climbers a significant advantage in reaching the summit of Ecuador’s highest peak by reducing the physical effort required. Instead of starting the climb from Carrel Refuge at 4,800 meters, like most climbers, our high camp positions you at 5,400 meters. This 500-meter head start means the final push to the summit is just 990 meters, which can be completed in 5 to 6 hours—giving our clients a huge edge over other climbers.

This advantage translates into a more manageable ascent, cutting down the overall effort and increasing your chances of success. Our 4-day package is designed to give climbers time to properly acclimatize before attempting the summit, a key factor for reaching the top. While Chimborazo isn’t considered a technical climb, it still demands good physical conditioning, endurance, and stamina, as you’ll be trekking through snow, wearing crampons, and using specialized gear.

With the extra elevation gain from High Camp, your odds of summiting Chimborazo are significantly improved.

Training & Acclimatization Before Climbing Chimborazo

Proper acclimatization and physical preparation are essential for successfully climbing Chimborazo, Ecuador’s highest mountain and one of the most challenging high-altitude climbs in South America. We strongly recommend that climbers dedicate time to altitude adaptation and cardiovascular training before the expedition to improve safety and summit success rates.

Additional acclimatization climbs such as Cotopaxi, Carihuairazo, Iliniza Norte, or Cayambe Volcano can easily be added to the expedition as preparation for reaching Ecuador’s maximum summit. Regular endurance training such as hiking, running, cycling, and stair climbing prior to arrival is also highly recommended for climbers preparing for Chimborazo.
