Train for Everest
Train for Everest

Ecuador is one of the world’s best destinations for high-altitude mountaineering training, combining glacier climbs, active volcanoes, and rapid acclimatization opportunities within short travel distances. Surrounded by Andean snow-capped peaks, Amazon rainforest, and Pacific landscapes, Ecuador allows climbers to complete multiple 5,000 and 6,000-meter summits in less than 15 days, making it an ideal training ground for expeditions to the Himalayas, including Mount Everest.
Over the years, Ecuador has become a preferred acclimatization destination for climbers preparing for major international expeditions. One of the most recognized examples was Mike Posner, the Grammy-nominated musician who trained in Ecuador during 2020 and 2021 before successfully reaching the summit of Everest in March 2021.
Our Ecuador high-altitude training program is specifically designed to progressively adapt climbers to extreme altitude while developing glacier travel and mountaineering skills through a carefully planned sequence of summits across the Ecuadorian Andes.
Acclimatization & Summit Progression
The expedition begins with a trek to Rucu Pichincha, an excellent acclimatization mountain near Quito that helps climbers begin adapting to altitude while enjoying panoramic views over the Andes.
The next objective is Iliniza Norte at 5,120 meters (17,000 ft), considered one of Ecuador’s best beginner mountaineering peaks and ideal for gaining experience at higher elevations.
The program then advances to Cayambe Volcano at 5,790 meters (19,000 ft), the only snow-covered mountain in the world crossed by the equator line and one of Ecuador’s most iconic glacier climbs.
Climbers continue toward Antisana at 5,704 meters (19,000 ft), a more demanding and semi-technical expedition featuring crevasses, glacier travel, and steep snow slopes in one of Ecuador’s wildest mountain environments.
The ascent of Cotopaxi at 5,897 meters (19,347 ft) introduces climbers to one of the highest active volcanoes in the world and one of South America’s most famous mountaineering objectives.
The final challenge is Chimborazo, Ecuador’s highest mountain. Its summit, rising above 6,263 meters (20,549 ft), is considered the closest point on Earth to the sun due to the planet’s equatorial bulge, making it one of the ultimate high-altitude climbs in the Andes.
More and more climbers are choosing this new option, which starts at 5300 m, again the climb takes 2 days, but starting at this elevation cuts the attack time by almost half, making it even possible to climb the mountain in the afternoon, here is a short video of a rare Summit done by our clients at Sunset 6 pm.
